Vice Family :: Family Photos :: North Wilkesboro NC

If you follow me on Facebook or Twitter you would see that at the beginning of June I had my first double wedding weekend which consisted of travelling to North Carolina on Friday where the night before the wedding I photographed the groom with his family. They hadn't had any family photos in about 10 years and felt it was about time.

As I drove up the first thing I noticed was how pretty their
gardening/landscaping was. Their home was so cute and quaint.
The first thing I was requested to do was take a picture that would emulate one that was taken at their previous session. It was almost depressing to see how much little ones can change in a matter of 10 years. I wish I had a copy of the original to be able to show you the difference.
I am not sure what kind of tree this is behind them but I love it! I have always loved weeping willows but they  suck up too much water (I am told) and these look just as appealing.

Don't they look lovely?
 Ahhhh! Laughing. My favorite. ;)
As they were walking and "talking" they couldn't help but focus their attention on their son as he would be getting married the next day.

As we walked around the house, I discovered that the sun was positioned most perfectly on the horizon. I love how these turned out.
Then who can resist a beautiful big old tree?
They have recently celebrated 25 years of marriage. Personally, when I first saw her I thought she was the sister of the groom, not his mom. Some people just don't age as rapidly as others.
 :)
This one had a 70's feel to it and I just had to go for it in my processing. I like how it turned out.

or feel free to look at more of my photography online. . .

Abel and Meraiah - Ten Years of Marriage

Never did I think, ten years ago, when I offered my services (okay, pretty much threw myself at them) to photograph their wedding that I would become this family's official photographer and get the joy of watching their little man grow and document their 10th anniversary party. I wouldn't have it any other way. I love this family like my own and thoroughly enjoyed making this little slideshow for them that was playing during their party. I hope you enjoy it too.

Belated

Gold. A precious metal and still a valuable one despite the appearance of platinum on the market. This metal comes out of the ground with so many natural impurities. But with repeated exposure to fire something so pure and so sought after is born.

Three years ago today, Spencer and I were on our honeymoon in Savannah, Georgia. In the years that have followed, we have had some craptastic times but considering how much we have grown as individuals and as a couple, it was ALL worth it.

Dave Matthews Band is pretty much our favorite band of ALL times. We saw them together one time before we were dating, but that's a long story for another time. :) I personally think that he is an amazing lyricist. In fact, I had some lyrics from the chorus of "Rapunzel" engraved into his ring.

I think the world of you
All of my heart I do
Blood through my veins for you
You alone have all of me
I give my world to you
To you Ill be true

This year, Spencer kept asking me if I wanted to go see the Dave Matthews Band Concert and I kept saying no because with him being unemployed up until a few months ago, we really didn't have the extra funds.

Flash forward to April 22nd and I realized I was only a few weeks away from our anniversary and had not even given my gift for Spencer a passing thought. No idea how I had let it slip by like that. Then, it hit me, I would get him tickets to see Dave Matthews Band because they usually don't tour until June or July....right?

WRONG! Found out that they were coming the very next week. YIKES! So the mad scramble began to find tickets on Craig's List. Success! However, obviously, I had to ruin the surprise and tell Spencer about it before our anniversary.

I don't think he minded too much.

Gotta love having my iPhone with me when no cameras are allowed.

It was SUCH an awesome concert. The very first full length song that he played was "Rapunzel". It couldn't have been more perfect.

Whereas I wouldn't say that Spencer are to the point of refinement as gold, we have definitely gotten so much stronger and our love so much purer for all that we have been through.

I love you, dear one of my heart, and I look forward to many many years to come.

More "Stinkin" Flowers. . . I can't help myself

You know, as tired as I am of photographing flowers, they are SO freaking beautiful and the ones around our house are blooming so I can’t help it. I try to find new and different angles but don’t always succeed. One of my favorite flowers is a hydrangea. I fought to have those on the men’s boutonnieres in my wedding because the girl who was doing my flowers was telling me that guys HAD to have roses in the boutonnieres that EVERYBODY used roses for the guys. Don’t I know it..as many weddings as I have photographed, I also know how ugly roses are when they wilt and how heavy they are…So I put my foot down for once and there were NO roses for the men. YAY ME!!!

We exchanged many and kick bootie gifts this year for anniversary which I have not as yet even been able to show you guys (all kinds of goodies) but the BEST of all and the only one I will probably end up posting is "the surprise" that Liam worked on with Grandpa. LOVE it and it is a perfect addition to our little garden. Priceless.
